Good Saturday January fifteenth as we open God’s word and study God’s truths.
Follow me-
Our Gospel is written by Mark who ministered in the mission fields with Barnabas, Paul and Peter. Mark witnessed many miracles and as well saw the persecutions of the Romans and the Jews against the gospel message. Now the message is not just the love of God but as well we learn the obedience we are to have with God. Mark wants to get to the center cut of the gospel’s message and instead of spending time writing things known Mark cuts into the meat of the Lord’s mission on earth. Let me ask, why did Jesus come? First Jesus came as the ransom for our lives. Mark 10:45 “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” He came as the payment for rescuing us from eternal damnation. Understand this was always the plan of God that He Himself would enter this world and remove Himself the sins against mankind. Jesus being the Son of God was obedient to the Father. John 6:38 “For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me.” That will to remove the walls of destruction that came between man and God when man sinned in the Garden and listened to the enemy. So then Jesus came to save all sinners from destruction of the soul. 1 Timothy 1:15 “The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost.” This was Paul’s statement to Timothy, identifying who we all are without the Lord’s forgiveness. John 12:46 “I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness.” The gospel is the light to our paths to righteousness, we must know that God Himself our creator loves us so much that He cleanses us with the blood of righteousness and places His covering over us so we may be free and share the good news. So the gospel message the life death and resurrection of Jesus is our cornerstone to our faith, now let’s read together from Mark 1:16-20 “And as He walked by the Sea of Galilee, He saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. Then Jesus said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men.” They immediately left their nets and followed Him. When He had gone a little farther from there, He saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the boat mending their nets. And immediately He called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants, and went after Him.” Seven of the twelve men Jesus called to be with Him were fishermen. Those who are fishermen love to fish, here Mark identifies two brothers casting nets to catch fish, and then Jesus calls the brothers James and John that Mark says were taking care of the nets used to catch fish. These four men were doing their business, but this day they heard the voice of God and they followed Him. We ourselves may have heard teachings of the Lord and just kept fishing, but one day we heard and we listened and began to follow the Lord. John 8:12 “Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” Have you heard? Remnant
